AI Layoffs Tracker
I love AI.
I love what it can do and the productivity advantages it brings.
But I love people more.
This resource is not designed to create fear, promote conspiracy theories, or drive an individual agenda. This resource is designed to do one thing - track the layoffs associated with the rise in AI adoption across various businesses and industries in the United States.
We are here to educate.
…I mean, where do you think I got my data?
Layoff Articles, Snippets, & Headlines
“…reports suggest Amazon is preparing layoffs of roughly 1,000 to 2,500 employees in the U.S. as it reshapes its workforce for 2026. The company has not yet filed WARN notices.”
Newsweek, 1/09/2026, Amazon Mass Layoffs to Hit This Month
“The bigger question is what happens when AI becomes significantly more capable. Firms will feel even greater pressure to automate in search of short-term stock price gains. But if large numbers of workers lose their jobs and incomes, the consumer economy that supports corporate profits will falter. Replacing labor with machines can boost margins for a time, but a society with widespread unemployment cannot sustain demand for the goods and services companies produce. The strategy ultimately undermines itself.”

Things to know
WARN Act
The WARN Act is a law that says big companies (with over 100 people) can’t just blindside you. If they’re planning a mass layoff or shutting down a location, they have to give everyone a 60-day heads-up.
mini-WARN
Since the federal WARN Act passed, 13 states have rolled out their own versions—often called 'mini-WARN' acts—that add extra rules for mass layoffs.
Non-compliance
Non-compliance penalties force companies to pay for 60 days, whether you are working or not. If you get laid off instantly without notice, you are legally entitled to a paycheck for the next two months.
